The source of the Seine is to be found in Burgundy. Following its course to the Atlantic Ocean, the river flows through Paris and Rouen before reaching the region responsible for inspiring many 19th-century Impressionists, then Le Havre before finally arriving at the English Channel. Its lower course is characterized by large meanders scattered with castles and ancient abbeys. At the journey's end, pretty fishing villages and elegant riverside resorts await – alongside imposing bridges, spectacular white cliffs and the wonderful Mont Saint-Michel.
